3 out of 5 stars Great for the price   September 3, 2010
    JVAN (Ohio)
I was using a pair of Sennheiser PX100's when mowing or at the gym for the past 5 years, until suddenly one side stopped working. Now they cost much more than I paid then (about 38), and even the new PX100-II's are a little pricey. Comparing those to these Sony's here's the differences:

Sony's cord is about 8" shorter. One side gets tugged on a little if I put my MP3 player in my sweats pocket.

Sony's are very workout friendly otherwise. Sweat wipes off easily when done (the PX100
s I had to blot the ear cushions).

These lack bass. There are parts of songs that I'm used to hearing that these don't even hint at in the bass region. Definitely an "airy" sound.

These are extremely comfortable and stay in place. They don't let sweat pool like the over the ear type did, and they don't shift. And best of all they feel like there's nothing at all on my head.

I paid 8 for these, shipped. Not bad, although I do miss the cord length and bass. Makes me wonder if I should've gone with the MDR-W24V headset. IF anyone has compared these two, let me know your thoughts. I really like the vertical style now; if only I could find some that get down to at least 40Hz and have a 4' cord.

Prefer the ones that can fold up but so far these are doing the job.

5 out of 5 stars Great open ear sound, low base   August 23, 2010
    K. Kuzba (WI USA)
These are less heavy on the base than most Sony headphones, so they are just as good for listening to talk radio or audio books as for music. The open design allows for unobstructed hearing of ambient sounds, making them perfect for places and times where you need to be aware of your surroundings.

5 out of 5 stars Best headphones I've ever had!   August 21, 2010
    M. Johnson (Utah Valley, UT)
I love to exercise and I especially love to run. I can't run without good music. I have tried out so many different headphones from really expensive to really cheap. I have tried the buds that fit in the ears. I have tried the headphones that wrap around your ears. I have tried the old-school headphones with the soft earphone piece, but nothing really works well. My ears are too small to hold the buds in. I have even tried the ear buds with the buds and they don't hold well enough while I exercise. The big soft ones feel too hot. So I decided to try out these cheaper, less fancy headphones and they worked like a charm. I have actually bought three different pairs (two for my kids to use with their music). They are adjustable. They fit into my ears and don't fall out when I run or cycle. The sound quality is just fine. I just want to hear music and I want the headphones to stay in/on my ears and these fit the bill. I highly recommend these headphones...especially if you have trouble with the wrap around or buds not fitting or staying in/on your ears properly.

2 out of 5 stars not rugged   August 11, 2010
    Arun Janardhanan (NJ)
I got this for gym use. The cable is shorted than what it should be for normal elliptical/treadmill use. Now one side stopped working. When the cable is held is one particular position, the sounds comes back indicating it's a contact issue where the cable joins the ear piece. This ear phone is comfortable but I do not recommend it.
